S.V. Sai Baba has had a long and varied career spanning banking, Information Technology and Information Security.

​

He holds qualifications including B.Sc., CAIIB and PGDCA and served for approximately 37 years in a nationalised bank, retiring as an Assistant General Manager.

​

His professional career provided him with an opportunity to witness the remarkable transformation of banking technology. He began his banking career during the period of manual ledger operations and subsequently experienced the introduction of Advanced Ledger Posting Machines, Total Branch Computerisation and later Core Banking Solutions.

His interest in computers began early.

 

In 1985, while working in the bank, he joined part-time computer training and learned advanced programming in BASIC. He later completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) through Alagappa University and underwent practical computer training at Alagappa Engineering College, Karaikudi, during 1986–87.

 

During the early years of personal computing, he gained practical experience with technologies that were very different from today's computers. He worked with 5.25-inch floppy disks, MS-DOS, WordStar, dBase, Excel, early versions of Windows, FoxPro and Oracle. He also learned computer architecture and programming languages including BASIC and COBOL and was introduced to early concepts relating to Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems.

 

Because of his exposure to Information Technology, he had opportunities to work in areas including Computer Audit and Information Systems Security. He later headed an Information Security function and gained valuable experience in protecting organisational information and technology resources.

 

He also authored books and manuals for bank employees, including “Introduction to Information Technology”, “Handbook on Information Security” and “Core Banking Solution Manual.”

 

After retirement, he started the Knowledge Sharing blog to share information and practical knowledge on subjects including Information Technology, Health and Finance. The blog has received substantial readership over the years.

 

His interest in learning and sharing knowledge continued into the rapidly developing field of Artificial Intelligence. He prepared and published educational videos explaining the basics of AI and subsequently published the Kindle  and Paper cover books :

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: FROM BASICS TO AI AGENTS — A Simple and Practical Guide to Understanding AI, Generative AI, and the Future of Technology.

His second book, INFORMATION SECURITY AND DIGITAL SAFETY, continues his Knowledge Sharing journey by presenting Information Security and Digital Safety in simple and practical language.

 

The author hopes that this book will help students, employees, professionals and members of the public better understand the importance of protecting information and living safely in an increasingly digital world.
